Synopsis

Blaze MacKenzie is a brand new heiress who just discovered that her ‘parents’ actually found her abandoned as an infant in a bizarre human sacrifice in the woods. Along with that news came a six hundred thousand dollar check, a strange golden feather, and the ability to move to the Alaska Bush and begin her dream-life living off the Grid. But unfortunately for Blaze, something else was there first, and he's not willing to move...

Deep breath…. Then GO!

An excellent entry into an intriguing world tucked away in Alaska. Blaze is just trying to build her dream life out in the Alaskan wilderness. Self-reliant and independent after a lifetime of not fitting in, she has more than she can handle alone trying to establish her fishing lodge and heritage farm while discovering were-beings and other ‘magical’ creatures exist. She has found some help in the most cantankerous of caretakers, but it will be all she can do to survive the surprises that lurk in the edges. She will have to use all her skills and develop some new ones to keep her freedom and fight hard for what she wants. This audio really coveys the full characters and textures of the novel. By the end, you may believe that you, too, are ready and capable to brave the Alaskan wilderness. Which, of course you aren’t, but you do think you could.

Great Listen!

Another great character driven story about the trials and tribulations of making your dreams come true. Sara King is so good with dialogue you will find yourself listening with rapt attention to the banter between the characters. I loved the author's take on the fae, were creatures and other supernatural oddities. It's all woven together seamlessly to create a world that feels lived in, with a rich past that draws you in. This is all painted against the backdrop of the Alaskan wilderness and an off the grid lifestyle. The pacing is perfect. Lot's of action interspersed with one problem or another, sometimes mundane sometimes supernatural. These plot threads are woven effortlessly with the main romance arc. I love Blaze's fierce attitude even when she's scared out of her mind facing off against werewolves, werverine's and even demi-gods. The narration and sound quality are awesome. I have yet to listen to a bad sound booth theater production. The voices are easy to listen to and bring the characters to life with feeling.
