Synopsis
Life is cruel. Arbor learns this lesson the hard way, when everything he loves is taken from him in a single night. Left alive by the men who butchered his family, Arbor has two options: give up and perish, or rise up and fight to take back the life he's lost. To do that though, he'll have to leave behind the only home he's ever known and venture out into the world beyond.
What he doesn't yet realize, is that the world is a much more dangerous place than he could ever have imagined. A world filled with magic, monsters and mythic beasts powerful enough to destroy entire nations!
Warning: Contains mild profanity and content that may not be suitable for children.

Utterly forgettable.
I bought this audiobook because of the powerful-sounding title, because it was on SBT, and because it was on sale. What a let-down! I had not listened to any of this author's previous work, so when I finally finished this I Googled him thinking this must be one of his first novels, but it certainly is not. It was SO vanilla, so utterly predictable that even the excellent production quality and voice-acting couldn't keep it interesting. An absolute slog to get through. A magic system called- *gasp!* MAGIC!? "His magic filled him, his magic warned him, his magic showed him, he pumped his magic, he felt his magic, he used his magic." Ugh. Worse, every dude is always GLOWERING, every female constantly GIGGLES, BLUSHES and BITES THEIR LOWER LIP. By far the worst offense to me is the titular "rampage" that, without subjecting myself to listening to the book again, I believe was described as he "went on a literal rampage". This was a nothing event against immediately forgettable trash enemies with zero impact. How you can title a book "Rampage" and have THAT be all there is to it is incredible to me. The most interesting events in the book were the few narration blunders (I definitely got a chuckle out of a character's wound being covered with a makeshift *******). I could say plenty more but will refrain from doing so. Annie Ellicott did a fantastic job, as did the rest. Shame there wasn't more to work with. Find a better offering on SBT.

Feels like the narrator/editor didn't care much for the book, never forget "sward and shield" or the fact no one could start to understand the elemental.

High fantasy and magic begins!
Land of the elementals starts with a humble beginning and heroes destined for greatness. The magic system is both interesting and unusual with no significant RPG elements the beginnings of war and strife abound. An incredible performance by the Soundbooth crew makes every charter come alive and leaves you eager for more. A five star story with 5 star sound makes this one a top pick for anyone who enjoys strong magic and reasonable main characters.
