Synopsis

Six months ago, the world watched in horror as we lost an American city.

"The Grinder." That's what the survivors of Tucson called the monster. Just one touch, and they became a part of it. It used their bodies as limbs... and as weapons. In just a matter of hours, it became a towering monstrosity, made entirely out of tens of thousands of people and animals. This isn’t behind-the-scenes bullshit from the point of view of the military. This isn’t yet another conspiracy theory about what really happened to Air Force One that night, nor is it about the decision to nuke Tucson.

This is a rare, eyewitness account from someone who was there, amidst the destruction. Most importantly, this is the terrifying truth.

More character development please!

This story was bezerkers, really well done from Matt and Soundbooth (we expect and receive nothing less time and time again; rather spoiled I must admit). I wanted further character development-I feel almost as if this was a short story despite it’s length-although I am unsure if that would have ultimately added any value as this seems to be a single story. Still, pass it on.

Matt Dinniman does it again!

Aside from Dominion of Blades (that one is next), I've now listened to every Dinniman audiobook. I just can't get enough of this man's writing. Between this, DCC, KBS and OBH, I'd say it was the weakest, but it still says something about how good it still was with me giving it 5 starts anyways. The twists and turns at the end had my jaw on the floor as what this book was building towards was so unique and unlike any horror story I've ever experienced.

This Story Blew My Mind

I listened after Kaiju and expected something along those lines. Its not. Its a brilliantly written first person account of a horrific situation, but its so much more than that. I felt like i could see the story as it unfurled. i badly wanted a paperback, but after finishing it.. that would almost defeat the point. I wont explain that because no spoilers, but I beseech you to grab this, set aside a day, and listen. I say a day because I COULDN’T put it down. Of course, Jeff & Annie killed the performance as always, but GOD DAMN MATT, that was a gd work of art. Best ending I’ve ever read, listened to, or even watched. That’s saying something.

Dark with no purpose

The characters fell flat for me, like bible-paper thin flat. The MC has no redeeming qualities. He’s just “Thoughts and prayers” all the way through. Fun horror story twist at the end that I simply couldn’t enjoy as all my personality and emotion had just taken an 8 hour beating. I love Matt’s work. Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon is in my top 5 books of all time. This is well below his usual thoughtful, deep, cynically funny work full of fully fleshed characters. Im going to go listen to Kaiju again as I’m in severe need of some uplifting content.

Another brilliant story

best author and narrator trio in the game. Jeff Hays & Annie Ellicott narrate this brilliantly as ever. Matt Dinninmans story telling hits the mark as always. from DCC to Kaiju and now this, each one has been its own unique style, brilliant twists and turns and just fantastic. i antisipated a zombie novel but was very surprised of the concept and wont go into detail to avoid spoiling it for anyone. definatly give this a try, brilliant.
