Devil's Delight
Synopsis
Beloved New York Times bestselling author M. C. Beaton’s cranky and crafty Agatha Raisin returns in Devil’s Delight with another baffling mystery.
Agatha and her colleague Toni are driving to the long-awaited wedding of their friend, Officer Bill Wong, when their journey takes an unexpected turn. A terrified naked young man suddenly bursts from a roadside hedge and runs toward their car.
Shaken and frightened, he claims to have discovered a dead body in the nearby woods. After lending him some clothes and calling the police, Agatha and Toni accompany him to the location he describes—a clearing near an ancient stone known as The Lone Warrior, rumored to have once served as a sacrificial altar.
But when they arrive, the body has vanished.
The only trace of evidence is a damp patch on the stone, and by the time the police arrive, even that has disappeared. Chief Inspector Wilkes dismisses the entire incident as a prank and accuses Agatha of wasting police time.
Unconvinced, Agatha and Toni begin investigating on their own. Their inquiries lead them to members of the Mircester Naturist Club, a colorful group whose interests range from artisanal ice cream to local legends and ancient curses.
When another person disappears under suspicious circumstances, Agatha and Toni realize there is far more to the mystery than anyone suspects. To uncover the truth, they must piece together a trail of clues before they become the next victims.
