Something Borrowed, Someone Dead

Gloria French seemed like the perfect addition to her Cotswold village. A cheerful widow with dyed blonde hair, a booming laugh, and a generous spirit, she quickly won over the locals. She raised money for the church, helped care for elderly residents, and always appeared eager to lend a hand.

But Gloria had one irritating habit—she borrowed things and never returned them. What began as minor annoyances, from missing teapots to vanished silverware, soon became a source of resentment throughout the village.

Then Gloria is found dead, murdered with a poisoned bottle of elderberry wine.

Concerned that the crime will tarnish the village’s reputation, parish councilor Jerry Tarrant hires private detective Agatha Raisin to investigate. Unfortunately, the locals are less than welcoming. The villagers are secretive, suspicious, and resentful of Agatha’s questions.

Undeterred, Agatha digs deeper into the case, uncovering a growing list of suspects and hidden grudges. As the investigation intensifies, her ex-husband reappears to complicate matters further—and soon Agatha realizes the killer may have set their sights on her as well.

To solve the mystery, Agatha must uncover the truth before she becomes the next victim.
