Aaaaaand, I’m out!
The concept of this story is great. There are a ton of scenes I really liked. However, any tension in the book feels so forced. This second in the series questions a lot about what trust is and how it works. Not only do the characters seem completely inept at figuring it out, but the author broke my trust. Mysteries were provided galore in episode 1. Some were answered and some were left tantalizingly just out of reach. They’re still out of reach, several more mysteries have been presented, and I’m just tired at this point. Tired and completely unsatisfied.
I like a good edging as much as the next girl, but now it’s just painful and I’d rather I end it than continue the torture with quite possibly no relief in the end.
Annie, great as always.
Jeff, I can’t tell the difference between the Marshal and the old friend. The friend needs a different voice, probably younger.
