Before Tilda and her charges can set off on their grand adventure, Tulip Thunderhoof, a classmate of Calina and Rurik’s, intervenes. As bratty as she is privileged, Tulip threatens to thwart their plans if they don’t bring her along. Though Tilda realizes there could be some material benefits to letting Tulip join their party – that is, if they can survive that long.

Back on Earth, armed with hard-earned technology and knowledge to aid humanity, the crew takes the opportunity for some well-earned R&R before heading back to Bryte.

Joe shows Maggie more wonders of the human world, including old video games played with actual controllers. In VR, he’s also able to show her the wonders of nature, hiking, and Spazz metal concerts. But none of this compares to the experience of consuming REAL FOOD, digesting it in a real human body, and the discovery of her favorite flavor, “Starberry.”

With her finances finally sorted and her strangely willing servant properly situated, the tireless golem is almost ready to start pursuing her dreams in earnest. She just needs to remain patient for a while longer. Once her crippled arm is reconstructed and reattached, there will be nothing left to stop her from moving up in the world.

Special Agent Sarah Johanson, the psy-operative responsible for breaking into Mag’rathlak’s summoning ritual, hasn’t given up. She’s still under orders from Her Immortal Majesty’s Supernatural Eviction Agency to monitor the Class-3 Cosmic Entity as it… does whatever it’s doing, and so she remains vigilant at her monitor, watching “the subject” as it drinks with Joe and the lads at a pub. As she quests to discover the animal life that has attached itself to human culture, she happens to meet Mr. Charles, the owner of a novelty shop that just happens to sell pets. Fascinated by the idea of owning a cute critter of her own, she quickly learns how owners should and shouldn’t treat their pets.

When Fizzy first saw the city of Dragunov, she thought it truly was the Tinkerers’ Holy Land.
